Description

Medium sized tree to 35ft. Fruits usually ripen towards late summer and early fall.

Needs a very warm, wet climate to flower and fruit.

Propagation

Native range from southern Mexico through Columbia and Venezuela.

Uses

Eaten raw or strained for juice. Extracts from the seeds are poisonous and can be used as an insecticide. Juice is sometimes used as a remedy for fevers. Inner bark is used to prepare teas, often to treat dysentery.
