Not to be confused with the common Eugenia myrtifolia, this species is instead a rare, edible fruit from the Santa Catarina region of Brazil. The 1" fruits are dark purple to black, fleshy, with a sweet flavor that has some similarities to the grumichama. It is a dwarf species, with shrubby growth to 6 ft / 2 m. Show some drought resistance and is probably suitable for tropical and subtropical zones. #5266
