10-20 seeds per pack. Similar to L. meyenii, and probably just a strain of that species, this is a common cultivated form of maca. A subtropical biennial or annual grown for its fleshy, edible roots. Native to the high Andes. The roots have a variety of edible uses, in making flour, brewing beer, and the leaves can be eaten like lettuce. Maca also has traditional and current (though unproven) uses to treat male infertility and related hormonal responses. While subtropical in origin, this plant grows best in cool climates. #2185 Out of stock. Last available: 2008
