Black Valentine Bean
Phaseolus vulgaris
An heirloom bean introduced near the end of the 1800's. Still popular today as a dual purpose variety. Young pods can be eaten fresh as green beans or mature pods can be harvested for their dark black seeds which can be used in cooking. Very prolific and tolerant of cooler temperatures.
