Description

Herbaceous shrub to 1-4ft.

Hardiness

Plants are hardy to short frosts, but will re-grow from roots if temperatures drop below freezing.

Growing Environment

Plants grow well in tropical and subtropical climates, and like moist conditions, but will grow fine in arid climates with supplemental water. Grow in shade or part shade.

Propagation

By seeds.

Uses

Usually grown as an ornamental for its pretty flowers and blue colored fruit. This species is also grown for its edible qualities, both fruits, and young shoot tips are edible.
