Description
Small bushy shrub usually to no more than 10ft. Grows well both in sun and shade. Beautiful yellow-orange blooms cover the plant in spring, followed by small 1/2" berries. Berries may attract birds.
Hardiness
The Darwin's Barberry is very hardy and can survive temperatures well below freezing (10-15F). USDA: 7+
Growing Environment
Grow in moist soil types, will grow in poorer soils. Keep watered year-round.
Propagation
By seed. Plants may also spread via underground runners.
Uses
Berries can be eaten. The shrub is commonly grown as an ornamental for its striking yellow/orange flowers that cover the plant during spring.
Native Range
Native to Chile and Argentina.
