Aloe polyphylla
A spectacular and rare aloe with spirally oriented leaves. It is endangered in the wild and there has been concern with wild poaching. While still quite rare, the plant has seen some recent availability within the horticultural world.

Description
Small succulent growing to one foot high by one to two feet wide.
Hardiness
Hardy to 5-10F.
Growing Environment
Thrives in cooler Mediterranean-like climates. Needs minimal water once established. Tolerates cold temperatures fairly well and will take some hard freezes. Needs some sunlight, though best kept out of hot, direct sun. Thrives in cool and foggy environments. Naturally grows along moist fog belts at 6000+ feet. Can be difficult to grow.

By seeds.
Uses
Wonderful as an ornamental conversation piece.
Native Range
Native to the Maluti mountains of Lesotho.
