Description
Ground dwelling, spreading perennial, usually growing no higher than a few inches. This strawberry will spread by runners.

Growing Environment
Grows best in shade or part-shade. In cooler areas, or near the ocean, it can tolerate direct sun. Water fairly regularly, plants will go dormant during freezes. This strawberry also does well in warmer areas.
Propagation
By seeds. The plant will also spread via runners which can be divided as well.
Uses
Berries are edible and usually eaten fresh.
Native Range
Native to the Western United States, often mountainous and hilly areas of the Sierras and its foothills.
