Having some reminiscence of Eugenia repanda and the Cherry of the Rio Grande, this rare, edible Eugenia is found wild along the Atlantic coast, in the Santa Catarina region of Brazil. The soft, shiny, juicy, bright red fruits have a mildly sweet flavor, lacking acidity. Shrubby, compact growth to 1 m / 3 ft. Attractive foliage is dark green. Unknown frost tolerance.
