A number of Lycianthes species are edible, though they are also part of the nightshade family, which contains a few toxic species as well, so caution is always advised with unknown fruits. Native to scrubland forests of Central America and the Caribbean. Little known in cultivation and may have nice ornamental value. Unknown frost tolerance. #4692
