Recently classified as likely the same species as Eugenia involucrata, this nonetheless shows distinct (albeit similar) features in fruiting and growth. If anything, this could end up a subspecies of E. involucrata. Fast fruiting, in as little as 18-24 months. Tends to fruit when quite small. Bears red to dark red, small, fleshy and edible fruits with nice flavor. Likely shows some cool tolerance similar to the surinam cherry. Small, bushy tree. #4509
