Native Range

Native to savanna and scrub-forest regions of Brazil. Its folk name, Bitch Tits, is derived from the fruits' tendency to form on branches side by side, hanging much like the nipples of a female dog. Further, animals often perch on their hind legs to suck out the juice of the fruit, much like suckling infants. This species is not cultivated.
