Lemon Drop Mangosteen
Garcinia intermedia
a.k.a. Mameyito, Monkey Fruit, Sastra
Small yellow fruit about an inch or two around. The pulp is translucent to white in color, with supposedly a madruno-like flavor.

Description
A short tree, usually to 10-15ft. It is a fairly fast-grower for a Garcinia and can fruit within 2-3 years from seed.
Hardiness
Unknown. Probably not frost hardy.
Growing Environment
Grow in part-shade to full sun. Water regularly. Needs a high humidity environment to flourish. Should do well in containers.
Propagation
By seeds. Seeds should not be allowed to dry out.
Uses
Fruits are eaten fresh. The aromatic, sour pulp is used to flavor beverages, jams and jellies.
Native Range
Native to Central America (Belize, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama).
