Description
A medium to large palm, growing up to 60 feet tall. The fruits grow to 2" and ripen to green-yellow. They have fibrous pulp with a sweet flavor.

Hardy to 28-40F
Growing Environment
Grows nicely in both tropical and subtropical climates. Adaptable to moist and arid climates. Grow in full sun.
Propagation
By seeds.
Uses
Very popular as an ornamental in Brazil. The fruits and seeds (nuts) are both edible. The species is also grown for its palm heart, which has a somewhat bitter flavor.
