Euterpe precatoria
A wild, forest acai palm with small, 1/2" purple fruits that have light mottling. The fruits are edible and can be used much like the regular acai fruits.

Description
A tall palm tree growing to 20-60 feet. Has a long, visible green crownshaft and huge leaves that grow to several feet long.
Hardiness
Unknown.
Growing Environment
Grows well in humid, tropical climates. Would seem to prefer regular watering as it naturally grows near rivers and in flood plains.
Propagation
By seeds.
Uses
The fruits are quite tasty fresh and are popularly processed into a type of juice.
Native Range
Native to Brazil, locally Amazonas, Para, Acre, and Rondonia. The tree is rarely, if ever cultivated, but fruits are gathered from wild specimens.
